Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa

Baby Isaac got to meet Papa Mike and Grandma Connie this weekend! Isaac can now make eye contact and smile, and boy did he love to smile at his Grandpa. It was so, so sweet to watch my dad and my son getting to know one another. I just know a lifelong bond between them is already forming.

Three Weeks Old

Isaac is three weeks old today! To celebrate, Mama and Isaac attended Yo Mama's Milk Club. If you are a breastfeeding mama in the Boulder area, I highly recommend this class. We were able to meet with one of Boulder's best lactation consultants and talk with other new mama's about breastfeeding challenges and triumphs. Plus, I was able to weigh Isaac: he is a whopping 9 lbs, 9 oz today! My boy just keeps steadily gaining those pounds. Good for you, baby.

At three weeks, Isaac is going five hours between night feedings (hooray!), but then needs to be held, bounced, burped and re-positioned frequently for one to two hours after eating before he'll go back to sleep. While this is extremely exhausting, I'm hopeful that soon he'll settle into sleep quicker and Mama and Daddy will get some good solid shut eye.

Along with longer feeding intervals, Isaac is starting to make all those adorable baby noises when he's awake. I can't get enough; I could eat him right up.

Two Weeks Old

Isaac is two weeks old today. He weighs 9 pounds, 1 ounce and is 21 inches long--he's a growing boy! His hair is becoming lighter and his eyes are brightening to match Daddy's baby blues. Unfortunately, we've discovered that Isaac has a milk protein sensitivity, so Mama has cut out all dairy from her diet (which has been so hard!). No dairy equals a happy baby!

One Week Old

Isaac is one week old today! He is 8 lbs, 6.5 oz and 20.5 in long -- he's surpassed his birth weight! He is happiest in Mama or Daddy's arms, and he's a great eater!

Family Walks

I'm pretty limited in what I can do for physical activity since having surgery, but we have been able to take Isaac on some short walks around the neighborhood now that we're home from the hospital.

So far he loves the Moby wrap!
