Boulder Creek Festival

Isaac has started to reach out for things he wants. Including us.

Yes, we eat it right up.

Happy Memorial Day.

Finally.

The final moving day.

Nap Time

When the playing slows down and I see these eyes, it's time for nap.

Isaac and Higgins

Lately, Isaac and Higgins have simultaneously shown interest in one another. Isaac will watch Higgins carefully when he's nearby.

And Higgins will lay close to Isaac during floor play. This results in Isaac grabbing at any part of Higgins that he can reach. Higgins seems okay with it.

When Isaac rolls, Higgins rolls.

When Isaac is on his back, so is Higgins.

Nose to nose.

Fast friends, these two.

I'm Too Sexy for My Shirt

Today it was 90 degrees outside. Hot, hot, hot! To keep cool, Isaac hung around in his oh-so-stylish giraffe print diaper.

Mastering the pincer grasp. (Or just reaching out with his thumb and pointer finger, I guess.)

Cute little cotton butt.

Fever

Isaac had his four month vaccinations yesterday. He did very well with the pokes -- only a few tears before Mama could nurse him -- but unfortunately, and to our surprise, he ended up with a fever which started in the middle of the night. He didn't have any problems with the vaccines at two months, so Isaac's temperature sort of wasn't on my radar. Fortunately we're co-sleeping so I caught the fever early.

The first fever story is not one I'll soon forget. We're still in between the temporary apartment we rented and the new house, staying at the new house. When I woke long enough at two a.m. to realize Isaac's fever probably needed to be treated, it dawned on me that the thermometers were at the apartment and we had no baby Tylenol. So, I handed baby off to dad, drove to the apartment and picked up both thermometers (along with a few other things--might as well make the most of the trip!), and drove back to the house. In my foggy middle-of-the-night state, I forgot to grab my wallet on the way out of the house, so couldn't stop off at the store for Tylenol.

I returned to Ben and Isaac cheerfully singing together (Isaac cooing and smiling more than singing) and took Isaac's temperature. Yep. Over 101 degrees. Back out for baby Tylenol.

When I returned again, I recalled hearing something about the recommendations for Tylenol usage changing. So, I paged the doctor to figure out the correct dose. All the while we're waiting, Isaac is happily wide awake, easing our troubled minds. Once we had orders from the night shift nurse, I slowly administered the dose. Isaac facial expressions were pretty funny, and we also thought the gagging was funny. That is, until he threw up all over himself, the bed, and me. Oh. Boy.

The mess and fever meant a cool shower for baby was in order. As I showered the vomit off of Isaac, Ben gagged his way through trying to clean up the sheets. Sigh. Switch roles. Ben showers Isaac, I clean up sheets (and myself). Eventually, finally, we get a half dose into Isaac and he falls back to sleep around 5am. Sigh. I stay home from work with him, administer another half dose in the morning only to have the same thing happen again. I swear I was careful the third time giving him the Tylenol.

Isaac's fever subsided around six p.m. the day after his shots. Poor boy.

Here's our feverish baby napping. As my cousin so appropriately put it, we've officially been broken into parenthood.

First Mother's Day

Thanks to my boys, I had a very sweet first Mother's day. Brunch at our favorite spot, flowers from our favorite greenhouse, planting, and best of all, quality time with the ones I love the most.

Isaac and Henry

Henry (21 months) found it so funny to lean into Isaac's bassinet so that Isaac could touch his face. As soon as Isaac made contact, Henry would pull back and laugh. So cute! Henry will have a little sister in a few months, so Isaac is good "practice" baby in preparation for the little one.

Oops (Again)

Mama did not take care to cover up the little boy parts during this particular diaper change. Pee all over the wall and baby legs. Oy. Then, as she dashed to get a cloth a few steps away, she returned to this face full of... well, you know.

I'll be saving these photos for the first time he brings a girl home.
