Monster Dash

Ben, Isaac and I ran the Monster Dash 5k today. This was big deal for all of us, being our first race as a family and my first race post-birth. I'll admit I was hesitant to race, even nearly ten months post-cesarean. My transition back into running has been a slow and painful one thus far. I've had some incision and abdominal pain throughout my sparse training, making me apprehensive to dive back in to any sort of formal program. (And, of course, there's the fact that fitting running into a very demanding schedule with baby isn't easy, even with the BOB.) But about a week ago I had some body work done by the amazing Natalie and told myself I would give running a real shot again afterward.

Ben suggested the race and I figured I'd run it recreationally (cue: eye-rolling). We sort of decided to run as a family until I realized within the first half mile that Ben was the first place person running with a stroller and I told him to go for it! We had a fun time, we both ran hard and I survived running on the roads with minimal incision pain. Immediately afterward I was sure I was internally bleeding or tore my abs apart completely or something equally as tragic, but I slowly recovered (from quite a slow pace, I'll humbly admit) and with my breath came the realization that my body was okay, is okay.

We had a great day, seeing all the families of runners competing. I'm glad Isaac has been introduced to the race scene so early!

The Snowy Walk

The first of the season:

Gotta enjoy it while it's here!

Snow

Yesterday it was sixty-five degrees, today we have a couple of inches of snow. Such is the life in Colorado.

Isaac isn't phased; he wants outside.

Isaac and the Balloon

Isaac was absolutely giddy over the balloon we picked up at the grocery store today. He was belly laughing all through the store, I just had to capture a little of the happiness. Oh, my baby boy, my heart is so full.
